Pick Me! Project Reaches First Milestone in Record Time

The Humane Society of Pinellas' Pick Me! Project is breaking records!

The Humane Society of Pinellas’ Pick Me! Project is breaking records!
Thursday evening, HSP hit a major milestone: the total dog and cat
adoptions for June 2013 now matches the number of adoptions in all of June 2012. Last year it took all of June to put 172 dogs and cats into loving new homes, and this year, thanks to our community, we did it in under 2 weeks!

This adoption milestone is especially noteworthy, since last week the
shelter suffered roof damage during Tropical Storm Andrea and was closed for a day and a half.

HSP is one of 49 shelters nationwide competing for grant dollars in the
ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge by attempting to adopt out more cats and dogs this June, July, and August than ever before.

“We’re so proud of our progress, and this is only the beginning,” said
HSP’s Executive Director Sarah Brown.  “This is a community effort.”

There are many opportunities to get involved, even if you can’t adopt a
pet. To follow the Pick Me! Project and to find out how to help, visit
