Police: Man Stole $2,500 in Water Guns, Lotion From Clearwater Beach Shop

The man was later found under the Sand Key Bridge with the stolen items, Clearwater Police said.

A man is charged with breaking into a Clearwater Beach concession store and stealing $2,500 worth of items, including sunglasses, suntan lotion, towels and water guns, according to police.

A City of Clearwater Parks and Recreation worker spotted the man breaking into a gazebo owned by the Hyatt Regency, 301 S. Gulfview Blvd., a little after 6 a.m. and called Clearwater Police, officials said. The man allegedly filled up about 15 large trash bags with the stolen items.

The suspect, Gregory S. McClain, of Wesley Chapel, and the stolen merchandise were later found under the Sand Key Bridge, Clearwater Police spokesperson Rob Shaw said.

McClain was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on charges of burglary and grand theft. He was being held on $7,000 bond and awaiting trial.
