Police Ask for Witnesses in Tandem Bicycle Crash to Come Forward

Anyone who might have seen Christopher Weed driving in the Clearwater Beach area or after the accident are asked to call Clearwater Police 727-562-4242.

Investigators released images of the truck involved in an accident that left a tandem bicyclist dead and another in critical condition and asked for witnesses to step forward Wednesday.

They also are asking for any information on the whereabout of the windshield missing from the pickup. 

Christopher Patrick Weed, 29, of Dunedin, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death and leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury.

Weed, who works at a hotel on Clearwater Beach, blacked out after driving home from work and doesn't remember anything until he awoke in the shower later Monday and saw the incident on the news.

Weed's 1997 Nissan pickup truck was found parked in the backyard of his Clearwater home. It was missing its windshield.

Robert W. Lemon, 26, died from injuries sustained in the accident. The other rider, Hilary C. Michalak, 27, is in critical condition.
