Pat Harney, Neighbor

I am the Public Affairs Director for the Church of Scientology (www.scientology.org) Flag Service Organization, the Church’s international religious retreat in Clearwater.  I was born in Jamaica, immigrated to the United States in 1974 to attend Howard University from which I graduated in 1976.  I later became a naturalized American citizen. 

I have been a Scientologist since 1979.  Five years following my introduction to Scientology, I began working for the Church’s public relations office in Washington, D.C.  In 1997 I moved to Clearwater to assume my current position with the Church.  Over the years, I have done thousands of media in various forms on the subject of Scientology.  I have also organized and run thousands of events, and spoken on the subject of Scientology at various Church and community functions.  I started both drug education and criminal rehabilitation chapters of Church-sponsored programs in Washington, D.C. and I continue to work towards eliminating drug abuse, criminality and discrimination in this community.

I am also passionate on the subject of my religion and letting others know the truth about Scientology due to the many benefits my friends and I have received from Scientology.  This is the main purpose of this blog.  However, I will also write about current issues and events.  I invite questions from those seeking honest dialogue and I enjoy discussing relevant issues in a rational environment.
