Looking for something to do over the last few days of winter break? Spend some time at Sand Key Park. New Year's is over and students do not go back to school until Jan. 7, so fill the last few days with some fun. Weather related to Tropical Storm Isaac brought some surfers out to Sand Key Park Sunday afternoon.
Jordan Colleary, of Palm Harbor, Chandler Maass and Matthew Gaddish, of Lutz, and Julianne Tanella, of Oldsmar, came together to worship waves Sunday afternoon at Sand Key Park. The friends piled surf boards in the back of a red Chevy Avalanche and made it through the entrance gate before the park closed. Colleary said they came out because they love the water. They also are all members of the Tampa Bay Ski Team which performs in Oldsmar, he said. They planned to be out for a few hours. They recommended checking the surf report and taking to the water with others for safety.
