Portions of the southbound lanes of Belcher Road from Gulf to Bay Boulevard to Druid Road in Clearwater will be closed as crews work on a stormwater project from Friday through early Monday morning.
Clearwater drivers should use caution and allow extra time on Belcher Road from Gulf to Bay Boulevard to Druid Road throughout the weekend. Crews are working on a Pinellas County stormwater project along portions of the southbound lanes of Belcher Road starting Friday night through 5 a.m. Monday. Traffic calming, a crane and a Cinco de Mayo celebration are the cause for several road closures in Clearwater this week. Southridge Drive from Highland to Hillcrest avenues is closed Monday April 29 and Tuesday, April 30, as crews work to replace stormwater piping as part of the Hillcrest-Brookhill Traffic Calming project. Local traffic is allowed. Other drivers can use Belleair Road as a detour. Sherman McVeigh Drive near Druid Road is closed to traffic through May 1 as part of the construction of the Druid Trail project. Missouri Avenue or Betty Lane can be used as detours. The third phase of the Druid Trail lengthens the route more than a mile with connections to the Pinellas Trail and Glen Oaks Park. The first two sections of the trail are in place. Some roads in Skycrest and Hillcrest neighborhoods will be closed as crews install storm water piping, water lines and traffic calming devices. Drivers should use caution in these areas: The north half of the Corona Avenue and Harding Street intersection is closed while crews replace stormwater piping. Brandon Avenue or Cincinnati Parkway can be used as detour routes. The eastbound lane of Marilyn Street from Patricia to Hercules avenues will be closed intermittently as water pipes are installed from Wednesday through Friday, March 29. Part of Sunset Point Road between Douglas Avenue and Edgewater Drive will be closed so utility crews can repair utility pipes Monday, Oct. 22. Drivers can use Union Street as a detour route. That part of Sunset Point Road was closed in March while crews installed reclaimed water piping. There are about 4,840 cars that travel that part of the road daily. As part of construction of additional US 19 overpass lanes, Gulf to Bay Boulevard will be closed at the intersection Monday night.
Gulf to Bay Boulevard will be closed in both directions Monday night as part of the US 19 conversion to a limit access highway. Because of rain, the road closure of Gulf to Bay Boulevard originally planned for May 16 is rescheduled for 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. US 19 will remain open during the work. Crews will be working to remove beams and add overpass lanes at the intersection. Detour signs will assist drivers around Gulf to Bay Boulevard. The closure is subject to change because of weather or other unforeseen reasons.

A part of Hillcrest Ave. is closed today and Friday during daytime hours only.
Clearwater utility officials have closed a portion of Hillcrest Ave. today and Friday, during daylight hours only due to contruction work. The portion of Hillcrest Ave. is only for one block, just south of Gulf-to-Bay Blvd. The area that is closed stretches from Franklin to Pierce streets. As a result, traffic will be detoured to Evergreen Ave. Next week, traffic will be detoured to San Remo Drive and Highland Avenue. The road closures are due to reclaimed water piping work.
