18 'Johns' Arrested in Clearwater Prostitution Detail, Police Say

Clearwater Police conducted the detail Monday in the East Gateway area and the 1700 block of Gulf to Bay Boulevard.

Updated, 11:15 a.m.: A revised media release from the Clearwater Police Department said suspect John Marika has been charged with open alcohol and not soliciting prostitution. Patch has made the correction.   A prostitution detail by Clearwater Police in the East Gateway area and the 1700 block of Gulf to Bay Boulevard has resulted in 18 arrests of "johns," authorities said Monday. The department's Anti Crime Team and Downtown Bike Team conducted the detail Monday "in response to issues related to prostitution," according to public safety spokeswoman Elizabeth Watts. The detail resulted in the following arrests and charges:
