Volunteers are needed to help at the city's Aging Well Center and Clearwater Sea-Blues Festival in February. To become a volunteer at the Aging Well Center an orientation is from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5 at the Long Center, 1501 Belcher Road. The Aging Well Center is looking for ongoing volunteers at the center. Participants are asked to help staff with events such as health and wellness lectures and screenings, social events and art classes. Typical volunteer duties include checking in patrons, setting up the refreshment table, monitoring room, distributing program calendars, registering for mailing list, familiarizing patrons with facility amenities and stacking chairs after events. The Barack Obama campaign volunteers in Pinellas County were overjoyed by the fact that their hard work for the presidential run paid off.
When the election was called in favor of President Barack Obama, the celebration started at the campaign office in St. Petersburg. "We won Pinellas County and we won the entire country. It's just amazing," said Mallory Stewart Robison, an Obama campaign volunteer. Obama's re-election didn't come as a given for any of the campaign workers, who put in months of hard work promoting Obama's mission, Stewart Robison said. "I've been (at the campaign office) so much, and it's hard to believe that it's actually over," Steward Robison said. NBC News called the presidential election for Obama around 11:15 EST. Florida votes were still too close to call Tuesday night, but Obama won the majority of votes in Pinellas County.

Water, tools, supplies and snacks will be provided. All ages are welcome and service hours will be validated. Four Clearwater school volunteers have been selected as Outstanding Volunteers of the Year by Pinellas County Schools. Laurel Jaeger of Clearwater Fundamental, Patricia Marder of Eisenhower Elementary and Pamela Iusi of Clearwater High will be honored during a school board meeting Feb. 21, and they will also be recognized at a breakfast in their honor April 26, according to an email from local school officials.
