Ken Burke, Clerk of the Circuit Court, announced that couples will be joined together for a group wedding ceremony on Valentine’s Day, Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at the romantic Wedding Garden at the Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo. This is the seventh year the Clerk’s Office is hosting this event, which has become a county tradition. Once again, the single ceremony uniting multiple couples in marriage will be held in the beautiful Florida Botanical Gardens’ Wedding Garden. Forty couples participated in the sixth annual Valentine’s Day Group wedding ceremony. Clearwater Valentines Marry in Mass Wedding

Forty couples said "I do" at a special Valentine's Day ceremony at the Florida Botanical Gardens.

For the sixth year, the Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court hosted a group wedding at the Florida Botanical Gardens. This year, 47 couples signed up for the wedding, and 40 couples had checked in by the start of the 2 p.m. wedding. Sixth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Thomas Minkoff officiated and called marriage "supreme sharing." The couples enjoyed musical serenades by the Charmonizers Barbershop Quartet. Deputy Clerk Linda Brian sang the "Wedding Song." Couples picked the group wedding for various reasons. Work led Antia Bates of Clearwater to her wedding day at the Florida Botanical Gardens. "I load the vending machines here. I saw the signs advertising the wedding, and we decided it was time to get married," Bates said. Some …

Clearwater Love is Stronger Than Cancer

Clearwater newlyweds Dudley, 89, and Allie Davis, 82, celebrate a year of marriage and overcoming cancer.

They say the first year of marriage is always the hardest. Just ask Dudley Davis and his wife Allie. The 89-year-old groom and his 82-year-old bride faced a scary reality just months after saying their vows. “I had a mole that one day changed suddenly. The doctors said it was melanoma,” Dudley explains. The American Cancer Society estimates about 120,000 people each year are diagnosed with this form of skin cancer. Because of the position of his cancer, Dudley wasn't a good surgical candidate and he was referred immediately to WellSpring Oncology, in Pinellas Park, for radiation. Fortunately for Dudley, his wife Allie was by his side during his 30 sessions with Zucel Solc, M.D., Board-Certified radiation oncologist at WellSpring Oncology…
