U.S. 19 Traffic Signal to Be Removed Wednesday

The removal will force traffic on Enterprise to take an alternate route in order to go south on U.S. 19.

The traffic signal at U.S. 19 and Enterprise Road will come down on Wednesday, May 8, according to the Florida Department of Transportation. A concrete barrier will be installed in the median, after the signal comes down Wednesday evening. What does that mean for drivers? Instead, traffic heading west on Enterprise will have to take a different route to go south on U.S. 19. First, drivers will need to turn right and drive north on U.S. 19 to Countryside Boulevard, where they will make a U-turn under U.S. 19 to rejoin southbound U.S. 19.   The $17.2 million construction on U.S. 19 to transform it to a limit-access highway between Sunset Point Road and Countryside Boulevard began in July 2012. Leaders Discuss Dimmitt Drive Name Change

City council votes on renaming 1st Avenue North to “Dimmitt Drive” as a way to let the dealership's customers know when to exit when a US 19 expansion project is complete at its meeting at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 112 S Osceola Ave.

Presentation of Preliminary Plan for Development Along US 19 is Tuesday

The preliminary plan for the future use of development along US 19 will be presented Tuesday at Holiday Inn Express, 2580 Gulf to Bay Blvd.

Clearwater is planning to make the US 19 corridor more attractive, successful and sustainable. A market analysis, land use assessment study and focus group sessions were conducted to identify challenges faced along the corridor. A preliminary framework plan and strategies will be presented at a US 19 workshop, Tuesday, Aug. 14 from 4:30 to 7 p.m., at Holiday Inn Express, 2580 Gulf to Bay Blvd. The presentation will take place at 5 p.m. Conditions along the corridor have changed dramatically over the past several years, and along the Clearwater stretch, especially. The roadway’s redesign, changes in access and circulation patterns, and the economic downturn have impacted property owners, businesses, and local residents. US 19 Construction to Close Gulf to Bay Wednesday, Thursday Nights

As part of construction of additional US 19 overpass lanes, Gulf to Bay Boulevard will be closed at the intersection Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Gulf to Bay Boulevard will be closed in both directions Wednesday and Thursday nights as part of the US 19 conversion to a limit access highway. Gulf to Bay Boulevard will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. both nights. US 19 will remain open during the work.  Crews will be working to remove beams and add overpass lanes at the intersection. Detour signs will assist drivers around Gulf to Bay Boulevard. The closure is subject to change because of weather or other unforeseen reasons.
