Clearwater Police say the suspect got into a fight with a man during an early morning party at a South Hillcrest Avenue home, went inside to grab a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times.
A man has been arrested and charged with murder after Clearwater Police say he fatally stabbed someone when a fight broke out at a cookout early Wednesday morning. Police responded to a fight in progress at 226 S. Hillcrest Ave. around 12:22 a.m. and found a man had been stabbed multiple times as a group of people were gathered for the party, public safety spokesperson Elizabeth Watts said. The victim, David Lee Kilen, 25, was taken to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police say Gilberto Juarez-Hernandez, 32, whose last known address was in Iowa, is responsible for the 2003 stabbing deaths of Petra Martin, 31, and her 2-year-old son, Uriel.
Clearwater Police have identified a suspect in the 2003 double homicide of a mother and her 2-year-old son and are asking for the public's help in locating him. Police say Gilberto Juarez-Hernandez, 32, is responsible for the slayings of Petra Martin, 31, and her son, Uriel, who were both found stabbed to death in their South San Remo Avenue apartment on July 19, 2003. A warrant is out for Juarez-Hernandez, whose last known address was in Des Moines, Iowa, as of 2008, public safety spokesperson Elizabeth Watts said. Authorities are not sure if he is still in the area, elsewhere in the country or in Mexico. Vasilios "Billy" Vorvis was stabbed to death in his Clearwater home in 2008 during what police believe was a robbery attempt.
Family members of a Clearwater man who was stabbed to death in his home four years ago are offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the unsolved murder. Family members of Vasilios "Billy" Vorvis announced the reward Wednesday. Vorvis was stabbed with a sharp instrument during an attack in his home in the 1400 block of Grove Street on July 6, 2008, according to Clearwater Police. He died a short time later at Morton Plant Hospital. Authorities believe Vorvis was robbed, though it's unknown how much money and/or property was stolen from him. The Clearwater Police Department was investigating a stabbing Friday night at 1379 S. Madison Avenue. During a fight the victim was injured with a bladed weapon. A 20-year-old and 17-year-old suffered stab wounds during an altercation with two unknown suspects who took off on foot, Clearwater Police said.
A 20-year-old man and 17-year-old boy were stabbed during an altercation with two other men Friday night in the Pier 60 parking lot, Clearwater Police report. Police found the victims suffering from stab wounds around 11:16 p.m. Friday on the south side of the parking lot. The 20-year-old had minor injuries and was taken to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was treated and released to his parents, officials said.
