UPDATE: Man Opens Fire in Office Lobby, Shoots Self, Police say

The suspect entered the lobby of an office complex on Lightwave Drive in Clearwater, began shooting at the lobby doors and windows, then shot himself in the abdomen, Largo Police said.

Update, 1:23 p.m.: Police have identified the man who they say fired several rounds at the windows and doors of a Largo office building lobby Wednesday morning, then shot himself in the abdomen in an apparent suicide attempt. According to Largo Police, Fred Michael Sumner, 52, entered the lobby of the BayView Pavillion Office Business Complex, 1550 Lighwave Dr., just before 9:30 a.m., pulled a semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and begin firing at the windows and doors. "He did not aim or threaten anyone in the lobby area," Largo Police Lt. Mike Loux said in a media release. Police Need Public's Help to Nab North Greenwood Shooting Suspect

Clearwater Police have identified the suspect from Friday's shooting as Kwuashawn Wyche, 16, of Palmetto Park Apartments in Clearwater. His whereabouts are unknown, and he is believed to still be armed.

Clearwater Police are asking the public for help to find a teen suspect wanted in connection to a shooting incident on Engman Steet Friday that sent a man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Kwuashawn Wyche, 16, who lives at the Palmetto Park Apartments, is wanted on charges of attempted felony murder in connection with the incident, according to investigators Sunday. Wyche's current whereabouts are unknown, and detectives are asking the public for help to find and take him into custody. He is believed to still be armed. Clearwater Police Investigating Engman Street Shooting

One man was shot and the shooter is still on the loose, according to authorities.

The Clearwater Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred late Friday afternoon on Engman Street near Holt Avenue, and the shooter may still be on the loose, authorities said. According to preliminary reports, a fight occurred between two people that resulted in gunfire sometime before 5 p.m., public safety spokesperson Elizabeth Watts said. One man was shot and airlifted to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The shooter fled on foot and could not be located following a track by a police K-9 unit, Watts said. The suspect is initially described as a 25-year-old man wearing a red shirt with white lettering and jeans.  Further details weren't immediately available. An internal investigation found two officers were justified in shooting Mark Bill, 56, who allegedly pointed a rifle at them outside his Clearwater home last month.

Two Clearwater Police officers were justified in shooting a heavily armed man who pointed a rifle at them outside his home last month, the department said Wednesday following an internal investigation. Mark Bill, 56, was shot in his left forearm and chest Dec. 23 after he pointed an AR15 rifle at police officers who had been called to his Glenmoor Road South home for a welfare check, police said. Family members had reportedly called 911 to warn authorities Bill was suicidal. Officers Kris Wise and Michael Beaver fired a total of six rounds at Bill after he pointed the rifle at them from his backyard and ignored their commands to drop it, public safety spokesperson Elizabeth Watts said in a media release. UPDATE: Police Shoot Man Firing Assault Rifle

Police had been called to the Clearwater home to do a welfare check on the suspect.

UPDATE, 10:33 p.m. Sunday A Clearwater man who fired at police with an assault rifle was shot by two officers "who feared for their life," according to a statement by Clearwater Police Sunday night. The suspect, who lived on the 2200 block of Glenmoor Road North, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. Police were called to the home after 7 p.m. Sunday by a family member, who asked officers to do a welfare check on the man. The suspect's 15-year-old son was in the house during the shooting, according to police, who interviewed the teen later. He was not injured in the shooting. Clearwater Police have taken Preston Bell, 26, into custody without incident. They say he pistol whipped and shot a victim during an apparent robbery early Tuesday morning.

Updated, 2:40 p.m.: The "armed and dangerous" suspect wanted in a shooting and robbery has been taken into custody without incident, Clearwater Police said Tuesday afternoon. Police receieved a tip on the whereabouts of the suspect, Preston Bell, and found him in a friend's Fulton Street apartment shortly after 1 p.m., according to public safety spokesperson Elizabeth Watts. A SWAT team was called in because Bell was possibly armed, Watts said. Police Investigating Apparent Shooting at Ramada Inn

Shell casings and blood were found in the parking lot of the Gulf to Bay Blvd. hotel, Clearwater Police said. The investigation is ongoing.

Clearwater Police are investigating an apparent early morning shooting at the Ramada Inn on Gulf to Bay Boulevard. The incident happened around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, when units were dispatched to a call about multiple gunshots at the hotel at 2106 Gulf to Bay Blvd., public safety spokesperson Elizabeth Watts said in a media release. Upon their arrival, officers found several shell casings and spent bullet slugs throughout the parking lot. "Blood was located at the scene, indicating someone was likely injured in the gunfire," Watts said. "All parties involved had fled the area." Dunedin Teen Shot in Clearwater Neighborhood

A 16-year-old black male teen is the victim in a neighborhood shooting off Pinellas Trail in north Clearwater Sunday night, according to authorities. The teen is at Bayfront Medical Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A Dunedin teen is injured after a Clearwater neighborhood shooting near Pinellas Trail on Sunday night, Clearwater Police report. The 16-year-old black male was found at a residence on Minnesota Drive, off of Fairmont Avenue, about a block off the Pinellas Trail in Clearwater, around 10:25 p.m. He was airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center, but as of Monday morning, his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Clearwater authorities said. Clearwater authorities said the victim was not able to provide a suspect description and possible witnesses at the scene are not being cooperative.  The investigation is ongoing.

Raul Torres, 41, is in critical condition after being shot late Sunday night, according to Clearwater Police.

A man is in critical condition after being shot late Sunday night, according to Clearwater Police. Two of Raul Torres' friends took him to meet someone at the dead end near the 600 block of Grant Street when he was shot around 11:03 p.m., according to investigators.  "Detectives believe this may be drug-related," Elizabeth Watts, police spokeswoman, said in a release. The two friends drove Torres, 41, to Morton Plant Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Torres was stabilized and taken to Bayfront Medical Center, according to police. Detectives do not have a description of the suspect or suspects at this time and are continuing the investigation.
