  1. Clear Channel Billboard Controversy: First, the city is criticized for censoring a billboard supporting gay marriage in a national press campaign by dating website beautifulpeople.com. Then officials learn the content was not approved by Clear Channel Outdoors. An official there said it was censored because the advertiser did not get rights to use images of the actors portrayed in the political satire, not because it supports gay marriage. Then it turns out the billboard is across the street from a Catholic church, unintentional the advertiser said. 2. Library Fence and Gate Gets the Go Ahead: City leaders unanimously approved spending more than $127,000 to pay for a fence and gate for the Main Library at a City Council meeting. The …

Red Robin Sets Opening Date in Clearwater

The gourmet burger chain will open its doors Aug. 13 at the Westfield Countryside Mall.

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers is set for an Aug. 13 opening at the Westfield Countryside Mall in Clearwater. The national restaurant chain, founded in 1969, will officially open its doors at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 13, the company announced Tuesday in a news release. Red Robin serves more than two dozen burger options with more than 100 different toppings. Their menu also features salads, entrees, soups and wraps, plus chicken, turkey and fish sandwiches and a vegetarian or vegan patty. Check out their full menu here or visit redrobin.com. What Else Should Come to Westfield Countryside Mall?

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Bar Louie are moving in next month. What else would you like to see come to Clearwater?

Clearwater diners will have some new options starting next month at the Westfield Countryside Mall. Red Robin, the nationwide burger chain, is now hiring and scheduled to open in mid-August in the mall's restaurant row, near BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse. Also slated for an August opening is Bar Louie, which already has locations at International Plaza in Tampa as well as Orlando and Fort Myers. Both restaurants are now under construction.
