Final Mission for NASA Space Shuttle Discovery Includes Clearwater Resident Nicole Stott

Stott is a member of the crew that goes to the International Space Station. She also is a 1980 graduate of Clearwater High.

One Tornado is about to get out of this world. The final mission for the space shuttle Discovery is set to launch at 4:50 p.m. today and the crew includes Clearwater resident Nicole Stott. As part of the mission, crew members will perform two space walks and take spare parts and equipment to the International Space Station. Stott is no stranger to the work. She spent 87 days on the space station before and has conducted a 6 hour 39 minute space walk. But there are no plans for Stott to spacewalk. She will, however, be tweeting from space.
