Joe Blanton, solid this spring, looks to improve from his last outing when he takes the mound against the Red Sox Monday at Bright House Field. In Blanton's last start he gave three runs and four hits while striking out four over five innings March 15 against the Braves. Blanton should have his work cut out for him as David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia, Cody Ross and Nick Punto are slated to be in the lineup, according to mlb.com. Jon Lester gets the start for the Red Sox. The Phillies are set to play split-squad games against the Braves and Tampa Bay Rays at 1:05 p.m. Thursday.
The Phillies send Joe Blanton and Joel Piniero to the mound as the team splits to play games against the Braves and Rays Thursday. Blanton faces Jair Jurrjens at Bright House Field, while Piniero takes the mound against Wade Davis in Port Charlotte, according to mlb.com. There are only a couple of home Grape Fruit league games left. The Phillies take on the Braves at 1:05 p.m. today at Bright House Field. Righty Joe Blanton takes the mound for the Phillies. Placido Polanco, sidelined since March 15, expects to be back in the lineup as well, according to Major League Baseball. Rodrigo Lopez gets the start for the Braves. The Braves (15-9) are tied a half game back with the Phillies (17-11) in the Grape Fruit League standings.
