Clearwater Cop Investigated For Alleged Misuse of State Database

Lt. Richard Crean is accused of using a law enforcement database to help a Palm Harbor woman involved in a child custody battle with her estranged husband, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

A Clearwater Police officer is being investigated by his department following allegations he illegally used a state database to help a Palm Harbor woman find information about her estranged husband, the Tampa Bay Times reports. According to the newspaper: A felony computer-crimes charge has been referred to the Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney's Office against Lt. Richard Crean, 45, a patrol commander who has worked at the Clearwater department for 21 years. If charges proceed, Crean could face a prison sentence of up to five years, the Times reports. Clearwater Woman's Death Under Investigation

Detectives are investigating after a Clearwater area woman was found unresponsive by her roommate and later pronounced dead.

Updated, 4:47 p.m.: The victim has been identified as Adrianne F. Robert, 29, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. Officials also clarified that it was Robert's male roommate, not her boyfriend, who found her unresponsive Saturday morning.   Earlier: Detectives are investigating the death of Clearwater woman who was found unresponsive by her boyfriend early Saturday morning, according to authorities. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is on the scene at a home in the 2900 block of Pinecone Circle in unincorporated Clearwater, authorities said.
