Scooter Rider Critically Injured After Clearwater Accident

A 26-year-old man riding a scooter suffered life-threatening injuries after trying to pass a turning vehicle early Sunday morning at Sunset Point Road and Stevenson Avenue, police said.

A 26-year-old man riding a scooter suffered life-threatening injuries after trying to pass a turning vehicle early Sunday morning in Clearwater. Tasha M. Kelly, 21, and Katie F. White, 19, both of Clearwater, were traveling westbound on Sunset Point Road in a 1990, four-door Plymouth. Kelly tried to turn left onto Stevenson Avenue around 1:11 a.m. when Gregory Allen Hitchcock, who was riding a 2009 Aprillia scooter, tried to pass her at the intersection. Instead, Hitchcock hit her driver side door and was ejected from his scooter, according to Clearwater Police. Hitchcock, 26, was not wearing a helmet. Two Teens Injured in Stolen Car Crash

Clearwater Police are investigating an early morning crash involving a car that was stolen Wednesday night.

Two teen passengers were seriously injured when the stolen vehicle they were in crashed into a concrete pole near the intersection of Douglas and Overbrook avenues early Thursday morning, Clearwater Police said. Joshua Davis, 17, was in the front seat and Teron Dudley, 14, was in the back of a 2012 Toyota being driven at a high rate of speed south on Douglas Avenue, according to investigators. The driver tried to turn left onto Overbrook Avenue but lost control, crashing into a concrete utility pole around 3:45 a.m., officials said. When units arrived, they found Davis with serious injuries and Dudley with life-threatening ones. Both teens were taken to local hospitals. Dudley is currently listed in critical condition. Phillies' Roy Halladay to Pitch in Clearwater

The injured Philadelphia right-hander could be in line for a rehab start with the Threshers this week, according to the Phillies' website.

Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay could make a rehab start Thursday with the Clearwater Threshers, the team's website reports. Halladay, who has been on the disabled list since May 29 because of a shoulder strain, was slated to travel to Florida after the Phillies' loss to the Atlanta Braves this past Sunday. The right-hander is scheduled to throw his fourth bullpen session Tuesday in Clearwater and, if that goes well, he would make a rehab start with the Class A Threshers on Thursday, the Phillies' website reports. The Threshers host the Fort Myers Miracle at 7 p.m. Thursday at Bright House Field, 601 N. Old Coachman Road. Halladay isn't the first injured Phillies superstar to rehab in Clearwater this year.
