Robert Henry Raymer Jr., 54, of Holiday was killed in the Dec. 12 crash when his pickup truck was hit by a stolen BMW driven by Jonathan Peter Bytautas, 29, of Clearwater, authorities say.
The Clearwater man who authorities say was driving a stolen BMW that caused a deadly crash on Curlew Road back in December is now charged with one count of vehicular homicide. Jonathan Peter Bytautas, 29, was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 23, following his release from St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, according to Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson Sgt. Steve Gaskins. Bytautas was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail with bond set at $250,000. Bytautas had been hospitalized since the Dec. 12 crash, which happened around 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of McMullen Booth and Curlew roads in Palm Harbor. A Clearwater man was found slain near 116 S Glenwood Ave early Sunday morning, according to Clearwater Police.
Clearwater Police are investigating the death of a man found on the street near Crest Lake Park early Sunday morning. Jason Taylor Paul, 22, of Clearwater, was found lying dead on the road from upper body trauma around 12:40 a.m. outside of a house at 116 S Glenwood Ave, according to investigators. Police are asking the public for help. "Unfortunately, there is not a lot of information to share at this time," Clearwater Police said on its Facebook Page Monday morning. Clearwater detectives released new information and enhanced video surveillance of the suspect at Fat Daddy's Watering Hole in Dunedin on the morning four years ago that a 51-year-old taxi driver was discovered shot to death on U.S. 19 in Clearwater.
Clearwater Police homicide detectives released new details and digitally-enhanced video of man suspected of killing and robbing a taxi driver four years ago Monday. Detectives hope the new information will help solve the cold case and locate the man they believe may have shot, killed and robbed Jack Lagrand, a Yellow Cab taxi driver. Some of the newly enhanced video and still photos show the suspect just before the robbery at Fat Daddy's Watering Hole in Dunedin. I do not believe that a person should go to prison for ACCIDENTALLY causing the death of another. Most of us have good hearts and just knowing that the accident was our fault will never allow us peace mentally excluding the lawsuit. However someone that steals a vehicle then having a accident with STOLEN property I have no pity and they should be relinquished to the Prison Industrial Complex!   more ›
