Clearwater Fire and Rescue want to 'Keep the Wreath Green' by offering holiday decoration safety tips.

Clearwater Fire and Rescue want to "Keep the Wreath Green" by offering holiday decoration safety tips. The department hung a 72-inch green wreath at Fire Station 45 downtown and will change the lights to red each time there is a fire related to unsafe holiday decorations. Half of holiday fires happen because decorations are too close to a heat source and almost half of all home decoration fires are started by candles. State Police Increase Patrols for Thanksgiving Holiday

State police are advising motorists not to act like turkeys but to drive responsibly during the busy Thanksgiving holiday.

As motorists hit the highways for the Thanksgiving holiday, they should expect to see more traffic then usual as Floridians make day trips and tourists visit for the long weekend. Because Thanksgiving typically produces a high volume of traffic, the Florida Highway Patrol will increase its presence Wednesday through Sunday.   All state troopers will patrol Florida’s high-volume roads, including in Clearwater and across Tampa Bay, during the five-day period.   Troopers will direct enforcement efforts toward impaired drivers, speeding, motorists who follow too closely and other aggressive driving behaviors.
