Top Headlines: Whole Foods Coming, Election Results, 'Dangerous' Suspect Caught

1. Election Day 2012 is in the books, and Clearwater Patch has comprehensive coverage of all the action at the polls, including two referendums approved by Clearwater voters and a breakdown of the Florida amendments that passed and failed, and what they mean. 2. Now that the election's over, Clearwater Code Enforcement officers are out in force removing campaign signs from medians and other rights of way. A city ordinance says residents must have signs removed by Tuesday, Nov. 13. 3. An "armed and dangerous" suspect wanted in a shooting and robbery has been taken into custody without incident, Clearwater Police said Tuesday afternoon. 4. 9,000 Pinellas Ballots Still Uncounted

Supervisor of Elections spokesperson Nancy Whitlock says it's not known if the uncounted ballots will impact close races.

The Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections' canvassing board is spending Wednesday morning processing about 9,000 mail ballots. Spokesperson Nancy Whitlock says the mail ballots were dropped off at polling locations all over the county Tuesday. Voters had until 7 p.m. to drop off the ballots. Whitlock says it is not known if the uncounted ballots will impact close races like the Palm Harbor Fire Commission Seat 3, in which challenger Debbie Buschman beat incumbent Bob Shatanoff by 247 votes. "We'll just have to wait and see. It will be several hours," Whitlock told Patch on Tuesday morning. Whitlock says the election supervisor's office will update its website with updated vote totals after all of the mail ballots have been processed. …

County Commissioners Bostock, Brickfield Concede to Long, Justice

Democratic challengers Janet Long and Charlie Justice have defeated Republican incumbents Nancy Bostock and Neil Brickfield.

In front of hundreds of GOP faithful at the Hilton Carillon on Tuesday night, Pinellas County Commissioners Nancy Bostock and Neil Brickfield conceded to their Democratic challengers, Janet Long and Charlie Justice.  Long defeated Brickfield, 55.27 percent to 44.73 percent. Justice beat Bostock, 52.35 percent to 47.65 percent.  Bostock thanked Pinellas for supporting her as a commissioner and said she hopes to continue serving the county in the future.  "I’m proud to have served our local government regardless of the results," she said fighting back tears Tuesday night.  Brickfield said he brought a message of smaller and more limited government to the Pinellas County Commission. Pinellas County Vote Goes to Barack Obama in 2012

For the second straight presidential election, Barack Obama has carried Pinellas County.

President Barack Obama has carried Pinellas County for the second election in a row. The results are in, and Pinellas County has named its choice for the White House. Obama has taken the county with 52 percent of the vote, according to results on the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections website. A total of 230,990 ballots were cast in Obama’s favor in Pinellas County. Republican challenger Gov. Mitt Romney came in second with 206,685 ballots cast in his favor, which works out to 46 percent. A total of 444,001 votes were cast in the presidential race in Pinellas, according to the Pinellas Supervisor of Election's unofficial results. In 2008, Pinellas also went to Obama, who won 53 percent of the vote compared to Republican challenger …

When Will Election Results Be Announced in Pinellas County?

Polls close in Pinellas County at 7 p.m.

Once you have been to your polling location, or otherwise cast your ballot, you may be wondering when voting results will be announced in Pinellas County. It's hard to predict exactly when the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections will have all of the county votes in and counted, but here's what we do know: The statewide results for Florida might take a bit longer because portions of the panhandle are in the Central Time Zone and polls will close there at 8 p.m. EST.
