Yes, There's School on Veterans Day in Pinellas County

The national holiday is Monday, Nov. 12, this year, but Pinellas County's public schools are in session.

As people across America recognize men and women who have served in the armed forces, students in Clearwater's public schools will be in the classroom. All Pinellas County Public Schools are open Monday, Nov. 12, the national observance of the holiday. Most government offices in Pinellas are closed. Pinellas' public school students won’t have to wait long for some time off, though. Schools will be closed the week of Nov 19-23, for two days of professional development for teachers and for Thanksgiving break, according to the school district’s calendar. UPDATE: Sunshine Skyway Bridge Remains Closed

Seek an alternate route this morning to work. The bridge is closed due to high winds.

The Sunshine Skyway Bridge, closed since 4 p.m. Sunday, remains shut down Monday morning. The bridge, which connects Pinellas and Manatee counties across Tampa Bay, will remain closed until the inclement weather subsides, according to Sgt. Steve Gaskins, FHP spokesperson. Wind speeds have reached 58 mph, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Motorists are urged to seek alternative travel routes and drive with extreme caution.
