The maker of aircraft components is being acquired by a Cleveland company.
Aerosonic Corp., which makes components for aircraft, will be acquired by TransDigm in a $39 million deal, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Under the terms of the deal, TransDigm will purchase all outstanding shares of Aerosonic, at $7.75 per share. The deal is a cash transaction, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Aerosonic, based in Clearwater, sells components to Boeing as well as to the U.S. government, along with other clients. It is a publicly traded company. The acquisition is expected to commence in May. CigarsDirect.com is based in Westchase and recently brokered a deal for the 1,600-pound stogie.
Juan Panesso runs CigarsDirect.com out of Westchase and deals in high-end cigars on a regular basis. But he says a cigar in Clearwater is about to lead to the biggest deal of his career. It’s big in more ways than one. This deal is for a cigar nearly 19 feet long that is selling for $185,000 to a private collector. The cigar is currently in a Clearwater warehouse, waiting to be shipped. Panesso won’t say who bought the cigar or where it’s headed, only that the stogie is headed outside of the U.S. and to a collector who most people would recognize by name. Forbe's Magazine has named Clearwater's Sara Blakely to it's World's Billionaires list. Accoding to Forbes, "she is the youngest woman to join this year’s World’s Billionaires list without help from a husband or an inheritance." Blakely founded the undergarment company Spanx at age 27. She attended Clearwater High School. She graduated from Florida State University in 1993, according to Tampabay.com She will be on the cover of the March 26, 2012 cover of Forbes Magazine.
