Neighbors in the Gulf to Bay Acres subdivision noticed smoke coming from the home at 2398 Nash Street and called 911 at 3:38 p.m., according to Elizabeth Watts, public safety spokeswoman. When firefighters arrived to the scene, neighbors already had removed two dogs. Firefighters went into the unoccupied home and removed one more Jack Russell. A motorcyclist is dead after crashing near the busy intersection around 3:23 p.m. Thursday, according to Clearwater Police. The intersection is closed while police conduct an investigation.
One person is dead after a motorcycle crashed at the intersection of Belcher Road and Drew Street, according to the Clearwater Police Department. The intersection is closed while police conduct their investigation. Officials urge drivers to avoid the area. Police received a call at 3:23 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 about the accident. Clearwater Police have identified a bicyclist killed Thursday night on Drew Street. They also released new details about the crash
Clearwater Police say alcohol may have been a factor in a deadly crash involving a car and a bicyclist Thursday night. Investigators say Henry Rackard, 57, of Clearwater was trying to cross from the north side of Drew Street to the south side when he was hit by a 1994 Buick driven by Milton Lee Smallwood, 54. It happened at 6:36 pm near the intersection of Drew Street and North Evergreen Avenue. Rackard died at the scene, said Elizabeth Watts, police spokeswoman. Friday evening, Clearwater Police said in a news release that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, but no other details were given. Clearwater Police had been looking for Kathleen Schardt, 60, who suffers from dementia and was missing since Monday. She was found safe and unharmed and apparently traveled to Georgia and back.

Clearwater Police are investigating an early morning crash involving a car that was stolen Wednesday night.
Two teen passengers were seriously injured when the stolen vehicle they were in crashed into a concrete pole near the intersection of Douglas and Overbrook avenues early Thursday morning, Clearwater Police said. Joshua Davis, 17, was in the front seat and Teron Dudley, 14, was in the back of a 2012 Toyota being driven at a high rate of speed south on Douglas Avenue, according to investigators. The driver tried to turn left onto Overbrook Avenue but lost control, crashing into a concrete utility pole around 3:45 a.m., officials said. When units arrived, they found Davis with serious injuries and Dudley with life-threatening ones. Both teens were taken to local hospitals. Dudley is currently listed in critical condition. A car crashed through a Clearwater video store, stopping nearly in the middle of the building Friday night. Clearwater Fire and Rescue crews responded to the vehicle crash around 6:40 p.m. at the Blockbuster Video at 2045 Gulf to Bay Blvd. The adult female driver experienced a medical issue and apparently lost control of the vehicle," Elizabeth Watts, public safety spokeswoman, said in a release. The driver is being transported for evaluation, Watts said. There were no other vehicles involved and no one else was injured in the crash. Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, according to Clearwater Police investigators. Toxicology results are pending.
