A suspect wanted in connection with a series of armed robberies at Pinellas and Pasco county pharmacies was arrested after a short car chase in Clearwater Thursday afternoon. Joseph Thomas Young, 37, was seen by Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies driving a silver sedan in Safety Harbor at around 3 p.m. As deputies followed him, he sped off, according to investigators. Deputies went in pursuit of Young. The chase ended a short time later when Young crashed the stolen car off U.S. 19, south of Enterprise Road, according to investigators. Young tried to flee on foot but was quickly found. A BB gun was found inside the vehicle along with numerous narcotic pills that Young admitted to stealing from area pharmacies, according to police. …

Rigoberto Angeles, 36, partially confessed to the 2010 crimes and is charged with two counts of capital sexual battery, according to Clearwater Police.
A Clearwater man is facing sexual battery charges after police say he sexually abused an 11-year-old girl sometime in 2010. Rigoberto A. Angeles, 36, gave a partial confession and was arrested Monday and charged with two counts of capital sexual battery, according to Clearwater Police. Authorities say the crimes occurred at a private residence in Clearwater in 2010 and that the girl, who was 11 at the time, was known to Angeles. The girl recently told her mother, who contacted Clearwater Police. No further information was released to protect the girl's identity. Angeles also faces a failure to appear charge for an expired driver's license. He was being held at Pinellas County Jail and is awaiting trial.

Investigators say Adrian David Rodriguez's blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit when he ran a red light and struck a car driven by Christopher Holly at U.S. 19 and Republic Drive last month.
A Clearwater man accused of running a red light and killing another driver last month in Dunedin has been charged with DUI manslaughter, the Tampa Bay Times reports, citing the Florida Highway Patrol. Adrian David Rodriguez, 33, turned himself in Friday and was booked in Pinellas County Jail, according to the report. FHP investigators said Rodriguez ran a red light with his 1999 Nissan Altima at U.S. 19 and Republic Drive in Dunedin in the early morning hours of Oct. 6. Christopher Holly, 28, was making a U-turn at the intersection when his Nissan Xterra was struck by Rodriguez's. The impact caused Holly's car to roll over, and he died at the scene. Clearwater Police say a DNA database match led to Wednesday's arrest of Arris Tayron Williams of Largo, who is accused of robbing a Clearwater BB&T bank in 2009.
Police have arrested a man suspected of robbing a Clearwater bank in 2009 and credit his capture to DNA profiling, authorities announced Wednesday. Arris Tayron Williams, 31, of Largo, is accused of robbing the BB&T bank, 23684 U.S. 19 N., on Jan. 30, 2009. Clearwater Police detectives had submitted DNA samples from the scene and established a profile into a DNA database, public safety spokesperson Elizabeth Watts said Wednesday. They were recently notified of a match and worked with the Largo Police Department to locate and apprehend Williams. Williams was arrested Wednesday near Second and Missouri avenues in Largo. A Clearwater man was arrested and charged with raping and impregnating a 12-year-old girl, Clearwater Police reported Wednesday. Cesar E. Alcivar, 39, faces a charge of capital sexual battery after authorities say he "had sexual interaction with the victim multiple times during the past year," beginning when she was 11 years old. The girl had complained of stomach pains, public safety spokesperson Elizabeth Watts said, and her mother took her to the hospital, where doctors discovered she was pregnant. The hospital contacted the Clearwater Police Department, which began an investigation. Family members of a Clearwater man who was stabbed to death in his home four years ago are offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the unsolved murder. Family members of Vasilios "Billy" Vorvis announced the reward Wednesday. Vorvis was stabbed with a sharp instrument during an attack in his home in the 1400 block of Grove Street on July 6, 2008, according to Clearwater Police. He died a short time later at Morton Plant Hospital. Authorities believe Vorvis was robbed, though it's unknown how much money and/or property was stolen from him.
