Largo Protester Takes on Ann Romney, GOP Supporters

Mark Klutho, a frequent speaker at government meetings, stood with a stack of protest signs to greet Ann Romney, who spoke at the Largo Community Center on Wednesday.

Mark Klutho could be called a professional protestor. Klutho, a frequent speaker at government meetings, stood with a stack of protest signs to greet Ann Romney, wife of GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney. She visited Largo Community Center on Wednesday in support of her husband's bid for president.  Klutho wore a hat to keep the sun at bay, a water bottle strapped to his waist and a silkscreen T-shirt with a black and white image of the country and the words: "Land of the Free* Some restriction apply. Void where prohibited." He stood under the shade of some slash pines with more of his signs: “Greedy Old Party,” “GOP = Evil" and "Twitt Ryan Pathological Liars." “I want Romney to see the sign here,” said Klutho who was the lone protestor…

Kudos to Mark for sharing his views. Too bad more people don't do the same. MITT ROMNEY had a terrible week trying to turn the Egypt and Libya attacks into political opportunities for himself. Button Buyer Came to Catch Political Buzz

Not able to make it inside to hear Ann Romney speak, Nancy Lorenzetti bought a souvenir button to remember Wednesday's political rally in Largo.

Nancy Lorenzetti is a self-professed political junkie. So, rather than leave when officials closed the front doors of the Largo Community Center around 3:45 p.m. when it filled to capacity with some 450 people waiting to see Ann Romney speak Wednesday, she was undaunted. “Since I’m not going in, I’ll buy a button,” Lorenzetti, of Clearwater, said as she selected three pins in support of Mitt Romney. She picked a few with pictures of Romney and running mate Paul Ryan as souvenirs to share with her friends. “This is the collectible part of the campaign,” she said. “Anyone who is running, I would collect their button.” Lorenzetti is an Ann Romney fan but needed to warm up to her husband. Lorenzetti said Mitt Romney’s speech at the Republican …

Country at a Crossroads, Romney Supporter Says

Kiely Allen, a mother of seven and small business owner, went to see Ann Romney speak in Largo on Wednesday.

Kiely Allen is at a crossroads. Allen is involved in politics for the first time because she believes this year's election is important in shaping the country’s future. She does not agree with the policy and mindset that's developed in the country over the last four years. That is why she came to see Ann Romney speak at the Largo Community Center Wednesday afternoon as she campaigned on behalf of her husband, Mitt Romney. “I’ve never been to anything like this before,” Allen said as she walked across the parking lot toward the front doors after parking black Mercedes SUV. “Nothing on the presidential level.” Allen lives in Harbor Oaks and found out about the speech in an email from the Women For Mitt group. Allen and her husband Steve own …

Women's Republican Club Volunteers Happily Wave Signs for Ann Romney

Members of the Belleair Women's Republican Club waited with excitement for Ann Romney to speak at the Largo Community Center on Wednesday afternoon. Club members spent the morning waving campaign signs on street corners.

Debby Whisenand's feet may have been sore, but she hid the pain with pure enthusiasm. She began at 7:30 a.m. waving Mitt Romney signs at the corner of McMullen Booth Road and Drew Street, and then headed over to Women for Mitt's event at Largo Community Center, decked in her GOP best — a red shirt under a white blouse and blue pants. Her lapel was adorned with just a small, glittery part of her extensive Republican and patriotic pin and button collection. Each one had a story. Whisenand, a Romney campaign volunteer and member of the Belleair Women's Republican Club, arrived at 1 p.m. with her sister sister Denna Shiben of Largo and friend Bonnie Royal of Clearwater. Ann Romney was not scheduled to speak until 4:30 p.m. Why did they come so…
