<p>Station Sand Key, considered the "Guardians of the Gulf," oversee more than 2,000 square miles of land and sea, stretching from John's Pass to Aripeka and about 50 miles into the Gulf of Mexico.</p>
<p>Staffed with 40 active duty and 20 reserve members, Station Sand Key is the fourth largest multi-mission station in the <a href="http://www.uscg.mil/d7/">Coast Guard's 7th District</a>. The station conducts Search and Rescue and Maritime Law Enforcement missions. </p> <p>The station responds to approximately 300 search and rescue missions each year. The station features six vessels; <a href="http://www.uscg.mil/d7/staSandKey/Boats.asp">two 47’ Motor Life Boat</a>, <a href="http://www.uscg.mil/d7/staSandKey/Boats25.asp">three 25’ Defender Class Response Boats</a> and a <a href="http://www.uscg.mil/d7/staSandKey/Boats24.asp">24’ Special Purpose Craft Shallow Water</a>. </p> <p>Station Sand Key is active in the community, participating in National Safe Boating Week, Clearwater Veterans Appreciation Day and Partners for Education.</p>
