Clearwater Weekend Things to Do: Brunch and Baseball, Alligator Creek Cleanup, Raw Food Spa

Greenlight A Go
Find out more about the Greenlight Pinellas plan regarding the future of mass transit in Pinellas County at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the East Library, 2251 Drew St.

Brunch and Baseball
Enjoy a traditional Sunday brunch and some minor league baseball from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The Threshers play the Lakeland Tigers starting at 1 p.m. at Bright House Field, 601 N Old Coachman Road. Find out more here.

Cleanup Alligator Creek
Help remove trash and debris from a wooded area near Alligator Creek near U.S. 19 and State Road 590. Meet at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Super 8 Motel, 22950 U.S. 19. Long pants, long sleeve shirts and bug spray are recommended. Closed-toed shoes are a must. Raw Food Spa
Find out how to make refreshing, wholesome foods that that are Vegan and Gluten Free at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Nature's Food Patch, 1225 Cleveland St. Find out more here.

Ski Club Kick Off Party
The Clearwater/St. Pete Ski Club, also knowns as the SnowSharks, 30th annual kickoff party is at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at the East Bay Country Club, 702 Country Club Drive in Largo. The event also is a fundraiser to help the Bay Pines disabled veterans winter sports attend the Winter Sports Clinic in Snowmass, CO in March 2014.

Get Your Geek On
Comic book and superhero fans might want to check this one out. Tampa Bay Comic Con takes the spotlight at the Tampa Convention Center Friday, Aug. 23 through Sunday, Aug. 25. The event boasts 75,000 square feet of “comics, cosplay, videos, toys, action figures, video games” and more. Find out more about it on the event’s website.

Get a Laugh for School Supplies

Side Splitters Comedy Club in Carrollwood is rolling out the red carpet for donors in its school supply drive. Just bring new supplies for free admission to a show at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. For more details, check out the full story on TBO.com.

Plan for Afternoon Storms

The National Weather Service says our pattern of afternoon storms is likely to continue well into the weekend. That means beach-goers might want to hit the surf a little early. Do be careful out there. The forecasters say frequent lighting, gusty winds and heavy rains are possible throughout the Bay.
