This Week in Clearwater: Taste of Clearwater, Super Boat Weekend

Here's a look at what's going on in Clearwater this week.

Hillcrest, Clearwater Beach Road Closures

Traffic along Mandalay Avenue from San Marco to Papaya streets will be reduced to one lane and shifted to the west into the parking spaces in each direction for storm improvement work. The lane shift will be in place for three weeks, through Oct. 4. Drivers should use caution and expect minor delays

South Hillcrest Avenue at the Satsuma to Lime Street intersections will be closed to traffic starting Monday, Sept. 23, through Oct. 25 for construction related to the traffic calming project. The Orange Street/Hillcrest Avenue intersection near Satsuma and Lime streets will be accessible to local traffic. Drivers can use Evergreen and Highland avenues as detours.

The northbound curb lane of Osceola Avenue from Cleveland Street to the alleyway is currently closed to traffic, now through Oct. 25 for construction at the Capitol Theatre. Allow extra time along this route.

Extra Work for the Holidays

Bay area residents hoping to pick up some extra work to cover holiday expenses might want to start looking a little early. Some retailers are planning to scale back their hiring, according to The Tampa Tribune. Know of seasonal jobs in the area? Tell others by commenting below!

Go Off to See the Wizard

Want to see “The Wizard of Oz” on the big screen instead of television? Check out local AMC theaters for a limited-run showing of the flick in 3D on IMAX screens. Several Tampa Bay area locations, including Tampa and Sarasota, are screening the classic this month. For show times, visit the AMC website for locations and details.

Imagine Dragons on Stage
Can’t get enough of this "Radioactive" group on the radio? You’re in luck! They’re bringing their brand of alternative music to the USF Sundome on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $34.50.

Guavaween Around the Corner

Here’s one to put on your calendar. The Ybor City Chamber of Commerce is playing host to the 28th Guavaween celebration Oct. 26. The scaled-back version of the event includes a costume contest and other festivities, but runs again this year without the infamous night parade. Visit the chamber online for more details about the more family friendly version of the annual Halloween bash.

More Rain in the Forecast

Hoping for blue skies and sunshine this week? While we might see some, forecasters at the National Weather Service also say Bay area residents should count on some rain. Chances for storms are especially high on Monday and Tuesday.
