Courtney Campbell Gets Cleaned Up

About 100 volunteers helped pick up hundreds of pounds of garbage along the beach of the scenic highway Saturday (Sept. 17).

About 100 volunteers helped pick up hundreds of pounds of trash and debris on the beach along the Courtney Campbell Causeway Saturday (Sept. 16).

Volunteers helped picked up about 200 garbage bags worth of trash during the the Keep Pinellas Beautifuland Ocean Conservancy’s 26th Annual International Coastal Cleanup, said Krystal Schmidt, volunteer specialist with the city.

"I think the strangest thing we found was a piece of plywood," Schmidt said.

The next city clean up is Oct. 8. The city is looking for volunteers to help clean up the waterways at from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Bring kayaks or canoes, there also will be some on hand. Call 562-489 of sign up online.
