Big Leaguers Take Down Southwest 4-3

The Florida District 12 all-stars beat Texas in their second game at the Big League World Series in Easley, SC, on Friday.

EASLEY, S.C. — Having to wait until a summer storm passed over the J.B. "Red" Owens Complex didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the Southwest and Southeast teams Friday at the Big League World Series.

The rain delayed the game by about an hour, but both teams were eager to face off, and kept the score close into the late innings, when the Southeast — which is made up of Florida District 12 players from Clearwater, Dunedin, Largo and Palm Harbor — pulled out a 4-3 win.

Florida's All-Stars took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third, but Southwest, represented by players from Texas, got on the board in the top of that inning, making the score 2-1.

Southwest was able to tie up the game in the fifth before Southeast pulled ahead 4-3.
