Spring Training Preview: Phillies Play Two Games

The Phillies are set to play split-squad games against the Braves and Tampa Bay Rays at 1:05 p.m. Thursday.

The Phillies send Joe Blanton and Joel Piniero to the mound as the team splits to play games against the Braves and Rays Thursday.

Blanton faces Jair Jurrjens at Bright House Field, while Piniero takes the mound against Wade Davis in Port Charlotte, according to mlb.com.

Blanton looks to build off his last performance where he pitched three scoreless innings against the Orioles, giving up four hits, a walk and three strikeouts.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez has several guest instructors helping this spring including former outfielder Dale Murphy scheduled through March 18.

Wade Davis, who is looking to secure a spot in the Rays rotation, gets the start. Alex Colome, Dane De La Rosa, Kyle Farnsworth, Josh Lueke and Cesar Ramos are expected to appear.
