Clearwater Sends One Athlete to State Meet

Courtney O'Donoghue tied the highest mark in girls pole vault and will move on to the state meet.

It was tough competition. And when the dust settled, the Tornadoes girls track and field team will send an athlete to the state meet.

Junior Courtney O'Donoghue tied the highest mark in girls pole vault with a 9 foot 6 inch jump at the regional meet Wednesday.

O'Donoghue claimed third place based on her number of scratches but she is moving on to the state finals.

It was not Junior Destiny Jenkins' year. She came up short in the 100m, not making the finals. She did make the finals in the 400m but again she came up short; this time just a few seconds short.

Junior Jessica Maggio had valiant efforts in 100m hurdles and 300m hurdles. She made the finals in 100m hurdles but finished eighth. She made the finals in 300m hurdles but could only climb up to sixth.
