Clearwater Central Catholic Out Duels Calvary
The district match up between Clearwater Central Catholic and Calvary Christian was a classic spring pitchers' duel for seven innings Tuesday.
The district match up between and was nothing less than a nail biter Tuesday. Both pitchers dueled for seven innings in a classic spring battle.
A double by David Paul with men on first and second scored Johnny Karaphillis for the only run in the game, improving Clearwater Central Catholic's record to 4-1. Both pitchers were totally on their game.
Zack Wolfe, a senior for Calvary Christian crafted 12 picturesque strikeouts. A confident first pitch breaking ball became the Achilles heel of CCC’s line up. One batter after another watched Wolfe get ahead in the count landing breaking ball after breaking ball.

While Wolfe threw an amazing game, CCC’s Paul, a sophomore, threw a two-hit gem. Staying down in the zone and landing pitches on the corners proved to be too much for the Calvary line up. Paul held off the Warriors allowing only one base runner to advance past second base.
The CCC defense stepped up to the challenge when Carter Cashman made an aggressive catch in left field on a crushed line drive. A crucial catch made by Andrew Murphy shut down the only opportunity Calvary had in late innings to gain any momentum.
