Local Improv Team Cracks Up Clearwater On October 25th

Strangers & Fools Improv will be performing at the BLDG 28 located at 25714 US Highway 19 North (located in a storefront in the Cabaret Center directly across from Cypress Point Plaza) in Clearwater on Friday, October 25 at 8:00 pm.  Tickets are $5 each (cash or check only) and can be purchased at the door.  Guests can reserve tickets in advance by emailing tickets@strangersandfools.com

Strangers and Fools Improv has been cracking up the Tampa area since 2007.  Founding members Matt Auger and Phil Bowen started practicing improv in 2002 when they instituted their college’s first improv comedy team with Dustin Black.  After graduation, Matt and Phil decided to take comedy to the Tampa area and began Strangers & Fools Improv, adding Matt’s sarcastic sister, Stephanie Auger Blok.  To complete the hilarity, the team later brought on the talented wordsmith Dustin Black and amazing straight man Chris Weihe.

Strangers & Fools’ unscripted approach to comedy incorporates audience involvement and suggestions with a variety of unique improv games.   Always impromptu, scenes vary from Gollum at Taco Bell (“What’s a chalupa, Precious?”) to a news reporter on assignment at the center of the earth.   The team members pride themselves on their commitment to bring clean, family-friendly entertainment.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Matt Auger has been telling jokes since he learned to talk and is known for his slapstick comedic style.  Matt is responsible for hosting each show and is always exploring and inventing new improv games.

Since he first attended acting lessons at the age of eight, Dustin Black has been most comfortable on stage.  Dustin performed his first improv show in 2002 and has mastered the art of wordplay and comedic timing.

Always the drama diva, Stephanie Blok studied theater at Clearwater Christian College.  After graduation, she moved on to perform in several local and professional theaters, continuing to maintain the funny.

Phil Bowen's passion for entertaining began when he first took the stage at the age of five with his critically acclaimed portrayal of Mighty Mouse.  Since then, Phil has performed in several theater productions and has been practicing improv since 2002.

Chris Weihe attributes his unmatched wit to years of studying great comedians including Phil Hartman, Bill Murray and his dad (who isn't famous necessarily, but pretty funny).  Strangers & Fools is Chris' first stint as a stage performer, and he keeps the team laughing with his sarcasm.
