began a partnership with in 2010 with members of Trinity helping in the cafeteria the first weeks of school.

Many volunteers were then assigned to a classroom and began working with and mentoring students logging more than 600 volunteer hours. Trinity members fulfilled teacher wish lists and made financial donations to the school exceeding $9848. Trinity also provided free use of their facility for school concerts which is conveniently located only a half mile from Skycrest.

In 2009, Trinity Presbyterian Church asked the question, “If our church no longer existed, would the community notice?”

While the church recognized that many of its members were volunteering within the community and the church was providing financial assistance to many local and national causes, sadly, Trinity had to wrestle with our observation that for the most part, we were not making a significant difference in our surrounding community.

In response, Trinity created a new set of core values which included focusing our outreach effort to three local causes. The end result has been that Trinity can now make a greater impact, with the goal being to bless our wonderful community.

Each year, business partners are selected and honored by the Pinellas Education Foundation at its annual Evening of Excellence. Three winners from Pinellas will represent our county at the state level in the Elementary, Secondary and District-wide categories. School personnel, parents and community members were encouraged to nominate a business that has directly benefited students through financial support and/or volunteer hours. To read more about the finalists in each of the above categories, visit www.PinellasEducation.org.
