Countryside High Seniors Tie for Valedictorian

Countryside High is fortunate to have a pair of valedictorians with sky-high grade point averages.

Countryside High is fortunate to have two valedictorians this school year, in addition to a salutatorian.

The trio are academic leaders at their high school, with Jenna Luther and John McGovern in a tie for No. 1 – each with a 4.88 GPA. Now that's an achievement.

  •  Jenna Catherine Luther is on her way to University of Florida to study Environmental Engineering. Her advice is sound for any age: "Our lives are define by opportunities, even the ones we miss," she says, quoting F. Scott Fitzgerald. How true.
  • John Matthew McGovern will go to Florida State University, with a major in percussion performance. "Always try to stay balanced. It's good to prepare for your future, but if that's all you worry about, you'll cheat yourself out of enjoying the present."
  • Shelly Saini, the salutatorian, has a GPA of 4.8. She will be entering Emory University in the fall, as a Chemistry Major. "You decide your own standards of success, so set the bar high," is her advice to students.
