Football Preview: Clearwater High Closing Out Bostic Era

The longtime Tornadoes football coach is embarking on his 30th and final season.

The end of an era is near. Only an old-timer can remember a time when Clearwater was not coached by Tom Bostic. That will change after this season.

Bostic, 67, . With a record of 167-138, the past few seasons have not been so kind to Bostic, who at one time had one of the top programs in the areas. Just once in the past dozen years have the Tornadoes had a better than .500 record, and Clearwater hasn’t had a playoff team since 2003.

Bostic first began coaching in 1967 in New Jersey, when Vince Lombardi was still coaching the Green Bay Packers. Bostic’s coaching career has spanned six decades.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive back and Gibbs head coach and is serving as an assistant to Bostic this season.
