McDonald's Breaks Ground on New Restaurant Near High Point

The new fast food restaurant will be at the entrance of a proposed residential and retail area near the High Point area of unincorporated Clearwater.

Construction starts soon on a new McDonald’s near US 19 and Roosevelt Boulevard. 

In about three months after the groundbreaking ceremony May 30 the golden arches should rise.

The new 3,880 square-foot restaurant is at the entrance of the former Crossroads Mall access road. It will eventually share the 1.2-acre parcel with a proposed bank.

Other future development in the Crossroads area could include a Wal-Mart, bus transfer station and a . The master infrastructure permit for that 36-acre parcel will be issued by the City of Largo in about three weeks, according to Karisa Rojas-Norton, program planner.

"At this time, we do not know when construction may start on the Wal-Mart or Gateway North (apartments)," Rojas-Norton wrote in an email.
