Gov. Scott to Talk Tourism During Visit to Clearwater Marine Aquarium Friday

Gov. Rick Scott hosts an economic and tourist discussion and signs a bill that expands the use of the tourist development tax to include aquariums at 1 p.m. Friday at Clearwater Marine Aquarium.

So, what better place for Gov. Rick Scott to host an economic and tourism roundtable discussion and bill signing for changes to the Tourist Development Tax, which will now benefit aquariums, than at the ?

Scott's forum is at 1 p.m. Friday at the aquarium, 249 Windward Passage.

The bill allows for repairs, improvements and construction for publicly owned venues, or those run by non-profits, including convention centers, arenas and museums using money generated from county tourist taxes. The tax money will now be able to be used for aquariums too.

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is to support construction of a new facility that adds stadium style-seating to the dolphin pool and will double the sea turtle rehabilitation facilities.

Scott touring Debby damage and to visit the emergency operations center there. There he will receive a briefing on the damage the county incurred and will also speak to affected residents.

Has he ever traveled on 275 to 4 at any time of the day thru Tampa???? RAIL as we Florida voters voted FOR, would have been a nice option!

I would tell him that "Winter" has ruined Island Estates. We do not have the infrastructure to deal with the thousands of people visiting this small island. Every inch of land has become a parking lot (even if deemed residential only). It's time for the aquarium to move elsewhere.
