Two Burglars Caught During Gulf to Bay Break-In, Police Say

A man and a 16-year-old were arrested while trying to break into the former Sears Essential on Gulf to Bay Boulevard early Tuesday, according to Clearwater Police.

A man and a 16-year-old were arrested while trying to break into a former Sears department store on Gulf to Bay Boulevard early Tuesday, according to Clearwater Police.

Mark Lawrence Trump, 31, and a 16-year-old were seen on the property of the former Sears Essentials, 2130 Gulf to Bay Blvd., around 12:54 a.m., according to Clearwater Police.

Police were called to the possible burglary in progress. After spotting the suspects, officers established a perimeter by using canine and helicopter units.

As canine units checked the building, Trump ran and was arrested near a building on the 400 block of Nimbus Avenue, according to investigators.

The teen also tried to run, but was taken into custody outside of the building with another canine unit, according to officials.

Investigators found burglary tools including a mask and gloves at the scene.

Trump was arrested and charged with burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The teen was arrested and charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools and obstruction.

Trump is being held on $5,150 bail.

Trump was also arrested in October 2011 and charged with burglary, grand theft and dealing in stolen property.
