One suspect, acting as a lookout, ordered a clerk near the door to lay on the ground, while second suspect ordered the other clerk to go behind the counter, where he demanded money from the cash register and cartons of cigarettes.

Both the clerks complied with the the demands, said Cecilia Barreda, a Pinellas County Sheriff's spokeswoman.

The suspect struck the clerk over the head with his gun after he'd taken an undisclosed amount of cash and various cartons of cigarettes and, then, fled on foot.

The clerk sustained a small cut to the back of his head. He was treated at the scene by Dunedin Fire paramedics.

Suspect Descriptions:

One suspect is described as a black male, last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with what appears to be a Hollister logo, dark baggie pants and a black bandanna over his face. He was seen carrying a red backpack.

Suspects Tied to String of Convenience Store Robberies?

Detectives believe the duo may be connected to a Jan. 19 robbery at Dodge's Store on Cleveland Street in Clearwater. That investigation is being handled by Clearwater Police Department.

A second Munchee's on Bayshore Boulevard in Dunedin was robbed at gunpoint two days later, on Jan. 17. A man carrying a handgun entered the Bayshore Boulevard store at about 8:30 p.m. and ordered cash from the register, scratch-off lottery tickets and spice products. He fled on foot, Barreda reports.

The suspect is described as 6 feet tall and about 175 pounds. He was wearing a black ski mask and dark colored jacket and dark gloves. The man's race is not known at this time.

Barreda said detectives have not yet determined if it is connected to the robbery on Union Street.
