Roosevelt Boulevard Bicycle Fatality Under Investigation
The two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Roosevelt and Bradford in the Highpoint Area occurred Sunday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A passenger car collided with a bicycle on Roosevelt Boulevard around 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Quinten Canty, of Clearwater, was riding his Mt. Fury bicycle on Roosevelt Boulevard near the intersection of Bradford Street. Canty tried to cross Roosevelt and failed to yield to oncoming westbound traffic, according to the accident report.
Canty, 25, went into the path of a Mercedes driven by Anastasios F. Poulakis, 58, of Largo. The bicycle crashed into the front of the car, according to the accident report.

Canty was critically injured and transported to Largo Medical Center, where he died from injuries sustained in the crash, according to the report.
The incident remains under investigation. Details regarding the incident are subject to change. Charges are pending, according to the news release.
