Seven Hotel Rooms Evacuated After Beach Bomb Threat

Clearwater Police recover a stolen vehicle containing unusual electrical items thought to be a bomb Thursday morning near the 200 block of Coronado Drive.

An unusual electrical item thought to be a bomb was inside a stolen vehicle recovered by Clearwater Police along the 200 block of Coronado Drive Thursday morning.

Officers called in the help of the Tampa Bay Bomb Squad after finding suspicious items inside a vehicle recovered around 8 a.m., according to investigators. The bomb squad arrived around 10:45 a.m. and quickly determined the items were "unusual electrical equipment" and not a threat, according to Elizabeth Watts, public safety spokeswoman.

As a precaution, guests in seven hotel rooms were evacuated from the , and , Watts said.

The vehicle was stolen out of Pasco County, according to police.
