Second Student Charged With Bringing Gun to Clearwater High

A second student is arrested in connection to a gun being brought to Clearwater High School earlier in the week, according to police.

A second student is arrested in connection to a gun being brought to Clearwater High School earlier in the week, according to police.

Through their investigation, Clearwater Police officers determined that Austin Davis had the unloaded .380 handgun before giving it to Markazell D. Hodges Tuesday, Sept. 18.

Davis, 14, was arrested and charged with possesion of a firearm on school grounds, a felony, Thursday, according to police.

Davis "did not disclose where or how he obtained the gun," said Elizabeth Watts, Clearwater Police spokeswoman, in a release.

The school went on lockdown for about 10 minutes after a student reported to the school resource officer that Hodges had a gun.

The officer located Hodges, pulled him out of class and found he was carrying the unloaded weapon along with ammunition. The gun was secured and Hodges was arrested.
