Portion of McMullen Booth Road to Close Friday for Railroad Crossing Repairs
Southbound lanes of one of the major arteries in Pinellas County, and specifically, Clearwater, will be shut down Friday. Clearwater motorists will need to make alternative driving plans.
A portion of one of the heaviest-traveled roads in Clearwater will be closed Friday night as CSX Transportation, Inc. and Pinellas County crews work on a railroad crossing on McMullen Booth Road.
The southbound lanes of McMullen Booth Road south of State Road 590 will close at 9 p.m. Oct. 7.
The construction crews will work through the night to tighten a concrete panel that has come loose. The panel in question serves as a transition of sorts from the railroad tracks to the road itself.

This project will not effect northbound lanes of McMullen Booth Road, which will remain open.
Pinellas County officials believe that the work will be completed by 6 a.m. Saturday morning, Oct. 8.

The southbound lanes will be detoured at State Road 590 to U.S. 19 and back to McMullen Booth Road using Drew St. The county has electronic message board up warning motorists of the closing and detour route.
Motorists who need to access Bayshore Bridge shopping plaza from McMullen Booth Road may do so using the first median opening south of State Road 590.
