Police Working to Identify Driver Killed in Fiery Crash

The man was driving a 1999 Chrysler van at a high rate of speed on Lakeview Rd. around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, when he lost control of the van west of Prospect Ave, according to City of Clearwater Public Safety Spokesperson Elizabeth Watts

Investigators with Clearwater Police are trying to identify the driver of a van who was killed in a fiery crash Sunday evening on Lakeview Rd and Shore Ave. 

The man was driving a 1999 Chrysler van at a high rate of speed on Lakeview Rd. around 9:30 p.m., when he lost control of the van west of Prospect Ave, according to City of Clearwater Public Safety Spokesperson Elizabeth Watts.

The van went off the road and hit a fence and power pole guy-wires, then hit a tree and burst into flames.

Clearwater Fire Rescue put out the fire. The van's driver was found deceased inside the burned vehicle. Identification of the victim could not immediately be made because of the condition of the body.
