Clearwater Teen Shot

Preliminary information indicates the shooting is accidental.

A 15-year-old Clearwater boy with life-threatening injuries was airlifted to a local hospital today after a gun he and some friends were handling discharged.

Ryan Greelee was visiting a friend in the 1300 block of Browning Street. A group of boys at the house were handling the Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun  when it discharged and struck Greelee, police said.

Police say that it appears the juveniles did not know the gun was load, and that the shooting was an accident.

The victim was transported to Bayfront Medical Center.

One of the juveniles apparently brought the gun to the residence, police said. Police are continuing to investigate the origins of the gun.

ORIGINAL POST: Clearwater Police have responded to the 1300 block of Browning Street where there is a reported shooting.The call came in at 12:43 p.m. today.

Preliminary information indicates the victim is a juvenile who may have been shot accidentally.

He is being transported to a local hospital via Bayflite helicopter.
