Police: Man Crashes Truck Into Home, Detained by Neighbors

Clearwater Police say the suspect tried to flee but was stopped by multiple neighbors.

A man is in custody after he allegedly crashed his truck into an Alemanda Drive home in Clearwater and was detained by neighbors as he tried to leave the scene.

Clearwater Police arrested and charged Randall Fowler, 47, with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.

According to the police report, Fowler was driving a Chevy truck in the 2100 block of Alemanda Drive and left the roadway and into the home. The truck entered the home through the southern wall, coming to rest inside the living room.

The suspect, according to police, then backed the truck out of the home and attempted to flee the area.

Numerous neighbors arrived and tried to detain the suspect; however, he fled on foot. Other neighbors at the western end of the block then detained him until police arrived.

Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded and determined the home was habitable and boarded up the 10-foot-by-8-foot hole, police said.
