UPDATE: Police Investigate Motorcycle Accident on Gulf to Bay Blvd

Clearwater Police are investigating a motorcycle crash near the 2800 block of Gulf to Bay Boulevard.

UPDATE 2:10 p.m.: All westbound lanes of Gulf to Bay Boulevard are opened as Clearwater Police investigate a Thursday morning motorcycle accident.

Tiffany Linn Goolsby, 29, of Riverview, hit a motorcyclist as she tried to turn right out of the parking lot of the Racetrac gas station near the 2800 block of Gulf to Bay Boulevard around 11:14 a.m., according to Clearwater Police.

Robert Lee Hatfield, 59, of Tampa, was wearing his helmet while riding a 2002 Harley Davidson in the middle lane of Gulf to Bay Boulevard behind another motorcyclist.

When Goolsby saw the first motorcycle pass, she pulled out in front of Hatfield, hitting him, according to police.

Hatfield was initially taken to the trauma center with life-threatening injuries, which are now considered serious, according to officials.

All westbound lanes of Gulf to Bay Boulevard surrounding the 2800 block are closed as Clearwater Police investigate a Thursday morning motorcycle crash.

Westbound traffic is being detoured at Bayview Avenue.

A call came in about the accident at 11:14 a.m., according to police. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to officials.

"Due to the nature of the injuries, a traffic homicide investigation is taking place," according to Elizabeth Watts, police spokeswoman. "We anticipate the lanes will be closed for some time although I cannot give an estimate at this time."
