Police: Case Closed in 25 Minutes

That's how long it took Clearwater Police to nab a suspect who robbed a CVS of more than 1,500 pills Thursday afternoon.

Clearwater Police might give Domino's Pizza a run for its "30 minutes or less" slogan after closing a case Thursday.

Alexander Christopher Cintron-Reyes, 22, of 1501 Leo Lane in Clearwater, walked into the CVS, 1899 N Highland Ave., looked around the store a bit before heading to the pharmacy section at 12:39 p.m.

There, he pulled out a list of various types of pills and told a pharmacist she had a minute to give him what he wanted, Rob Shaw, Clearwater Police spokesman, said in a release.

Cintron-Reyes then ran off with about 12 bottles of pills.

The first officer to respond was about a block away from the drug store when the call came in. The officer was on scene, got a description of the suspect and watched videotape of the incident within minutes of it happening, Shaw said.

The officer then relayed the suspect description as other officers and detectives swarmed the area, Shaw said.

Cintron-Reyes was caught and taken into custody about a block away. He had more than 1,500 pills worth more than $10,000, Shaw said.

Cintron-Reyes was arrested and charged with robbery and trafficking in oxycontin. He is in jail awaiting trial on $160,000 bond.

All in about 25 minutes.
